The importance of personal approach has been a core philosophy for Dick McMurray. In his role as Vice-President of Sales, he's helped shape the agency's one-on-one style of doing business. Beginning with a strong insurance background in Life, Health, Auto & Homeowners' coverage, Dick's area of expertise extends to Commercial Insurance for small- to medium-sized businesses. He additionally specializes in Employee Benefits, consisting of Health, Life, Disability and other ancillary lines of coverage.
He is a Registered Representative, and offers securities through J.W. Cole Financial, Inc., Member FINRA, SIPC. He assists clients with Mutual Funds, Variable Life Insurance and Annuities, Simple IRA and 401K Plans.
Background.
Born and raised in Hoopeston, Dick graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1969, then spent two years in the United States Army. He entered the insurance business with Prudential in 1972. He entered the independent agency system in 1980 with the Brown & Brown Agency. After becoming a partner in 1982, the firm's name was changed to Brown, Brown & McMurray. He has been Vice-President of Sales since the inception of Brown, Hobbs & McMurray in 1989.

A member of many local and national business organizations, Dick is past President of the former Urbana Chamber of Commerce, the Urbana Kiwanis Club and the Champaign Area Association of Life Underwriters. He is currently active and serves as the President of the Hoopeston Area Healthcare Foundation.
Dick lives in Urbana with his wife Jeanne. They have three children, and currently, four grandchildren.
